Policies

The Use of Corporate Resources During an Election Policy outlines how municipal facilities, equipment, technology, staff time, and communication channels may and may not be used during an election. Its purpose is to protect the neutrality of the municipality and ensure that no candidate or third‑party advertiser receives an unfair advantage through the use of City resources.

By-Laws

The election section of the Sign By-law regulates when, where, and how election signs may be placed within the municipality. These rules help ensure public safety, maintain community standards, and create a fair and consistent approach to signage during the election period.

The by-law outlines requirements such as:

  • Permitted locations for election signs
  • Timing for installation and removal
  • Size, height, and placement restrictions
  • Enforcement measures for non‑compliance

To view the full details, please visit our dedicated Election Sign By-law page, where the complete by-law and guidance materials are available.

Accessibility

An accessibility plan under the Municipal Elections Act (MEA) is a document the municipal clerk must prepare that outlines how barriers affecting voters and candidates with disabilities will be identified, removed, and prevented, and it must be made publicly available before voting day in a regular election.
Once the 2026 plan has been completed and approved, it will be posted and made publicly available.
